Minister Waldez Góes (PDT) announced that water security projects by the federal government will be completed by 2027.
He emphasized that more water availability increases demand for infrastructure by municipalities and states.
In an interview on Bom dia, Ministro, Góes explained the impact of the transposition of the São Francisco river, stating it would quadruple demands for expansion by local governments.
With the completion of this project, the government aims to prioritize 72 projects under the "Water for All" initiative as part of the New PAC for human consumption, irrigation, and industry.
He revealed that R$ 12 billion have been allocated for water infrastructure since 2023, including funds from the Transitional PEC.
The projects encompass the construction and repair of dams, channels, pipelines, and ducts.
Despite federal budget cuts, Góes assured that all water guarantee projects for the Brazilian Northeast remain intact.
Addressing fake news about the São Francisco project, he criticized supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro, implying they are uncomfortable with the progress made under President Lula.
Góes highlighted that they received the project in disrepair, with no budget allocated for 2023.
